JSP (Java Server Page)

JSP is a standard developed by Sun Microsystems as an alternative to Microsoft’s active server page (ASP) technology.

The full form of JSP is “Java Server Page.”

JSP pages are very similar to ASP pages, where they are compiled in the server, not on a user’s web browser. This is why they are called “server pages.”

But JSP is completely Java-based, whereas ASP is Visual Basic-based. This is why JSP pages are used to create dynamic websites and access database information on a web server.

Java is interspersed in JSP pages with HTML, while all Java code is parsed into the server. This is why once the page comes to the browser, it is only HTML. On the other hand, JavaScript is usually parsed through a web browser, not a web server.
